Who we are

SparX is a dating app currently in development. During our pre-launch phase, the waitlist is operated by the SparX founding team. If you have any questions, contact us at sparx.app.contact@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist we collect:

• Your full name
• Your phone number
• Your email address, if you choose to give one
• Your city
• Your age range
• Your gender

Our hosting provider also records standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type when you visit the site.

Why we collect it

To tell you when SparX launches and to give waitlist members early access. We use your phone number, and your email address if you give one, to contact you about the launch. Your city tells us which cities to open in first. Your age range confirms our waitlist is 18 and over. Your gender helps us understand the balance of our early community.

Our legal basis

We process your personal data based on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the pre-registration form. In doing so you consent to us collecting and using your information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, and we will delete your personal data unless we are legally required to retain it.

The one thing we do not rely on consent for is counting visits to this website, described under Cookies and analytics below. We do that on the basis of our legitimate interests (we need to know whether this website is reaching anyone), and it produces aggregate totals only, which cannot identify you or be linked to your signup.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the waitlist:

• Our database provider, to securely store your signup details.
• Our hosting provider, to serve this website.
• A city lookup service, so the City field can suggest real places as you type. What you type into that field is sent to them, along with your IP address. They never receive your name, phone number, email address or any other signup detail.
• When we begin contacting you about the launch we will use a message delivery provider to reach you by email, by text message, or both. We will name it here before we do.
• Business software we use to keep our own records in order, such as spreadsheets and analysis tools. We only use paid business accounts with data protection agreements in place, and we never put your details into tools that use them to train AI models.
• An analytics service, which counts visits to this website so we can see how many people reach the form. It receives the page you looked at, the website that sent you here, the city or region your visit came from, and the kind of browser and device you used. It never receives your name, phone number, email address or anything else you type into the form.

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK or EEA under appropriate legal safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism.

How long we keep it

Until SparX launches and you either become a user or ask us to delete your record, and in any case no longer than 24 months from the day you signed up.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, stop using it, or object to how we use it. You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to sparx.app.contact@gmail.com. Once we start sending launch emails, every one will also carry an unsubscribe link. We will respond within one month.

If you think we have handled your data badly you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and carries no advertising pixels or social media trackers.

We do count visits, using a privacy-focused analytics service built into our hosting provider. It does not use third-party cookies and does not build a profile of you. Visits are counted using a temporary code worked out from the request your browser makes, which is discarded within 24 hours, and what we see afterwards is aggregate totals: how many people arrived, on which page, from where. We cannot tell from those figures who you are, and we cannot connect them to your signup.

While you fill in the waitlist form, your answers are kept temporarily in your browser so they aren’t lost if you open another page, such as this one, before signing up. They stay on your device and are never sent to us until you press the sign-up button. When you sign up they are deleted, and the tab keeps only a note that you have signed up, so these pages show the right way back. Everything is deleted when you close the tab. None of this is a cookie, and it is used for nothing else.

Apart from that, if we ever add anything else that stores information on your device, or anything that follows you across other websites, we will ask your permission first and update this policy.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, email you.
